Cows sitting like dogs

In the past five years, the number of American families without a refrigerator has gone up by more than 2.7 million.

According to the US Energy Information Administration, the average household refrigerator uses an average of 2,100 kilowatt-hours of electricity per year. By comparison, the average American household electricity bill is around $150 per month.

That's enough electricity to run the average refrigerator for 11 days.

In this day and age, Americans should not have to go without food, or anything else, for that matter.

With the cost of gas and electricity rising each year, and food prices going up at an alarming rate, it is understandable why people are struggling.

But it's also important to remember that the people in America's inner cities, especially, have it far worse than any other segment of the population.

In fact, according to a study done by USA TODAY, the average family in the inner cities has a monthly income of just $832, while the average family in the suburbs makes $1,856 per month.

That may seem a bit confusing to the average Joe on the street, but it's the truth.

On top of that, the study found that the average inner city family has just three square meals per day, while the average inner city family spends $5.71 per meal.

In other words, most inner city families go to bed at night not knowing where their next meal is coming from.

That's the reason why the Obama administration is pushing to spend more on energy efficient products, like solar panels, to help the average Joe struggling to make ends meet.

And it's the reason why Americans are being encouraged to use more energy efficient products when it comes to washing and cleaning their clothes, their cars, their houses, and their bodies.

If Americans use more energy efficient products, and use less energy in general, we can cut down on the costs of things like gas and electricity.

It's not rocket science.

In fact, it's common sense.

With that in mind, I'd like to leave you with a great quote that I heard the other day on the radio. It's a quote that we can all use when it comes to saving energy.

“If you don't know what to do, then do nothing,” the quote goes, “and wait for inspiration.”

As the quote states, we can do nothing about energy.

It's out of our control.

But we can do something about the electricity we use.

And we can do something about the appliances we use.

All of us have to make choices when it comes to how we spend our time and money.

That's why we encourage everyone to do their part in conserving energy and helping the environment by using more energy efficient products, and to not buy products that have the word “Made in China.”

Consumers have the power to make a difference in our environment by using energy efficient products, and by buying American.

It's as simple as that.

Now, can you see how we all can make a difference by following common sense?

So what are you waiting for?

Stop wasting energy and start saving energy by using more energy efficient products.
