Why is my dog shedding so much? My dog has been shedding a lot recently and I'm curious why. She has been so nice and healthy overall. Should I be concerned or does she have a cold or allergies. I know she has seasonal allergies to dust and pollens and so does my husband but that isn't happening. And I have not been concerned with other areas of my dog's health. She is just kind of itchy and constantly seems to want to clean herself...especially when I'm sleeping. I don't understand why I would want to pet her or play with her right now. She is only a little over a year and three months old so I don't understand. She will be seven months in July.
How long is normal for a dog to be shedding? I would love to know.
Thanks so much.

I'm not sure if it's just that my dog has a cold or something else. I took her to the vet today and she was coughing and had snot coming out her nose, I know that they normally do that when they have a cold but I'm not sure why my dog is doing it. She wasn't coughing when I picked her up from the vet so I don't think it's something I caught when picking her up but, she hasn't really been coughing when I have been home. It's just that when I'm sleeping she wants to be cleaned and has been shedding a lot in the last month or so. I know there is nothing contagious that she has and that I haven't caught but I am confused.
Cynthia, I think I have a cold because every time I get home my nose is all blocked up and so is my throat. My dog doesn't have a cold or anything else that she shouldn't have. She just looks like she has a cold but her body is fine.
