History

Nurture farms began its development as a company in Sydney in 2003. It was founded by Mark Besser and his wife Jane Besser in 2003. Nurture farms products first started being available for sale in Australia in 2004. The brand expanded to the United Kingdom in 2008. It was also introduced to the United States in 2009. In 2012, the company launched its first product specifically aimed at cats, as well as its first natural product in North America.

Mark Besser

Mark Besser is the owner of the company and the husband of Jane Besser. Mark was born and raised in Sydney, Australia and is originally from the country town of Bredbo, New South Wales. He attended primary school in Bredbo and went on to attend Saint Ignatius' College, Riverview before receiving a degree in science from the University of Sydney. Mark was the co-founder of Pet Partnerships Limited which he sold in 2001.

In 2008 Mark and Jane Besser were able to acquire the trademark for Nurture Farms. He is the inventor of Nurture Farms brand of pet food and cat and dog food.

In 2009, the company launched its natural pet food products for dogs.
